McKenzie

McKenzie is a registered clinical and counseling psychologist in the province of Alberta and is working towards completing advanced training to achieve his doctor of psychology degree. McKenzie holds a Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology from Yorkville University and an honors Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Ottawa. He completed his post-graduate residency at the Calgary Counselling Centre, a nationally recognized center of excellence located in Calgary, Alberta.

McKenzie has experience working nationally and internationally in residential, inpatient, outpatient and community settings providing individual, couples, family, and group services to diverse populations and age ranges. He has also lectured on the topic of Mental health at the University of Calgary and facilitated workshops training clinicians in the delivery of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy interventions and diagnostic assessments.

 

McKenzie has extensive training in treating a broad range of psychosocial issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. During his residency, McKenzie focused on working with perpetrators and victims of domestic violence,  those struggling with substance use and recovery, and those having difficulty with personality disorder symptoms. McKenzie also has experience working with individuals involved in motor vehicle accidents, those experiencing chronic pain issues, and brain injury-related concerns.

 

McKenzie offers Psychoeducational assessments, social-emotional diagnostic assessments, as well as cognitive and memory assessments. McKenzie has received advanced clinical training to meet the highest levels of expertise in particular therapeutic modalities. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. McKenzie uses a collaborative structured approach incorporating interventions from these modalities. He also integrates Mindfulness and somatic-based practices in his work.
